SUPPORT & SERVICES HOPE TO LEND A HAND TO BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS
Coming to grips with a cancer diagnosis is hard enough. Thankfully, there are multitude of programs in and around the Magic City designed to let patients and survivors know that people are there to help.
PROGRAMS TO SERVE:
Billings Clinic/ACS Wig Boutique - free wig and styling boutique. To arrange an appt. call (406)435-7383.
The Look Good Feel Better Program hosts free classes in Billings for women. The 2nd Monday of the month they are at Frontier Cancer Center from 3:00 – 5:00 p.ms; the 3rd Monday of the month they are at the ACS office from 10:00 to noon; the 4th Wednesday of the month they are at Billings Clinic from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Reach to Recovery is a program through the American Cancer Society that provides information and support to anyone facing breast cancer through one-on-one contact with the American Cancer Society volunteers. The program attempts to match the person with a volunteer who is similar in age and who has had similar breast cancer experiences. There is no charge. People should call 1-800-ACS-2345 for info.
The Billings Clinic Breast Boutique, located on the second floor of the Billings Clinic Cancer Center, has the only board certified fitter for prosthetics in the area. This boutique provides private and personal fitting, bras, camisoles, etc. and has insurance billing available. Open 8:00 a.m., Monday – Friday. Call 406-435-7210 to schedule an appointment.
Billings Clinic Pathways: This program is aimed at wellness for cancer patients in general, and includes classes that are specifically geared toward women, to buddy programs, to grief education to professional casino online counseling. They are run by our social workers. For more information, call 406-435-7335.
Genetic Counseling: our genetic counselor can meeting with people who have a personal or family history of various cancers (including breast, ovarian, colon, uterine, thyroid, melanoma and pancreatic cancers), and counsel them on whether genetic testing/counseling might be beneficial. The Reger Family Center for Breast Health: The Billings Clinic Center for Breast Health includes a Diagnostic Breast Care Navigators (all of our navigators are RNs), the only 3D imaging machine (Tomosynthesis) in Yellowstone County, private dressing rooms with direct access to Mammography rooms (no walking down the hall in your gown). Our center for Breast Health is also a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, NAPBC accredited (National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers), and has been recognized as a Hologic Pink Ribbon Facility. St. Vincent Healthcare"s Risk Assessment and Prevention Program (RAPP):This program at the Yellowstone Breast Imaging Center is one that provides patients with a personalized assesment of their risk for develping breast cancer. The program goes over your medical history and teams you up, if need be, with a genetic counselor for individualized prevention services and testing. Breast Cancer Support Group: Support for those affected by breast cancer -- from the newly diagnosed to survivor. Group meets 2nd Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Mansfield Health Education Center at 2900 12th Ave N. Call 406-237-3115 for more information.
Celebrate Life Support Group: This ten-week series provides tools and resources to thrive following cancer treatment. All types of cancer patients are welcome. Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:30 PM at the St. Vincent Frontier Cancer Center at 1315 Golden Valley Circle. Call 406-238-6290 for more information or to register.
Bust Out Breast Cancer: Join St. Vincent Healthcare and attend a fun and informative breast health seminar. Sip on pink wine, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and getting in on the chance to win fabulous giveaways. You"ll learn how mammograms work and what technologists are looking for during scans, about breast reconstruction options and considerations and how to keep your diet and nutrition in check during & after cancer treatments.
