Tip for fun #1:

Hit the dollar store and stock up on movie-sized packages of candy. All your family’s favorites are there and for just one buck, you can’t go wrong. Compare that to the roughly $60 a family of four could spend (with treats) at the theater, and you’ve just saved a bundle!

Tip for fun #2:

Make some colorful “corn cones” for your popcorn. Simply wrap a piece of 12” by 12” scrapbook paper into a cone, securing with tape and cutting off the top to form a cone. Each child will have fun picking out their paper and bringing pizzazz to the party!

Tip for fun #3:

Bored with simple buttered popcorn? Put a different spin on this movie lover’s treat with different spices and flavors.

For Brown Sugar-Cinnamon Popcorn, mix ¼ cup of brown sugar with ground cinnamon, to taste.

For Garlic-Herb Popcorn, shake on garlic-herb seasoning blend, to taste. Stir to coat popcorn with butter-flavored spray and garlic-herb seasoning blend.

For Nacho Cheese Popcorn, mix 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, and 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, adding crushed red pepper to taste.

Tip for fun #4:

Make sure you never forget the flicks you watch as a family with a “Critic’s Choice” notebook. Log each movie the family saw, the date, and let each family member write a few sentences about what they liked or didn’t like about that week’s pick. Keeping track will ensure you don’t have any “repeat performances” on your family movie night. You can also rate each movie giving one to four stars.

Tip for fun #5:

Take turns letting a different family member pick each week’s movie. You can add to the fun by letting that family member also pick the night’s snacks!

Tip for fun #6:

Turn down all the lights in the house and keep it cozy by making family movie night a “Pajama Party.” The kids are sure to love it.
